Happy Haitian Flag Day on every May 18th.
Happy Haitian Heritage Month The Whole Month of May.
Every January 1st is Haitian Independence Day. During the French enslavement of the Haitians, they cooked the Soup Joumou in front of the Haitians and ate it. But the Haitian slaves were not allowed to eat the Soup Joumou except for the French. So, as soon as the Haitians got independence on January 1, 1804, guess what they did. They ate the Soup Joumou. That's why, every January 1, Haitians in Haiti and all over the world quietly drink that Pumpkin Soup wherever they are at. In conclusion, Soup Joumou is the Freedom Soup for everyone of Haitian ancestry everywhere in the world.
